- The M-Line
From 2019, the Novasom M-Line brought industrial reliability to the Raspberry Pi form factor, and the embedded press covered each launch:
- M7: Rockchip RK3328 quad-core Cortex-A53, 4K HDMI with H.265, USB 3.0. A drop-in replacement for the Raspberry Pi 3 in industrial projects.
- M7+: RS-485 and USB headers, FFC HDMI, 6.5 to 18 V input, 0 to 70 °C.
- M8: Qualcomm Snapdragon 410E, running Android, Linux or Windows 10 IoT.
- M9: Rockchip RK3399 hexa-core, M.2 NVMe, HDMI, MIPI DSI and eDP, -20 to +85 °C.
- M11: Intel Apollo Lake, dual Ethernet with PoE and a built-in UPS manager.
- Built for Industry
Every board followed our RASPMOOD concept: Raspberry Pi mechanical and software compatibility, combined with industrial-grade components and extended temperature ranges. Customers could prototype on a Raspberry Pi and move to production on a Novasom board without redesigning their product.
And we keep our word on availability: in 2025 we built a new batch of 250 industrial computers for a long-term customer, the exact model we first delivered more than 10 years earlier. Read the story.
NovaEmbed™ – Simplified Development for Linux SBCs
For our Linux OS boards, we have developed NovaEmbed™, a powerful tool that makes programming a Linux single board computer simple, allowing developers to focus solely on application code without concerns about kernel, file system, or boot issues.
From Boards to Test Systems
Our fault injection HIL systems grew out of this work. The real-time controller inside each system is an array of our own embedded computers, and years of designing, validating and supporting SBCs taught us how hardware really fails in the field.
Today, industrial computers and custom embedded boards are produced by EMC Embedded Modular Computers in Romania, the company behind the Novasom brand. For new projects, see EMC Industrial Computers.
