The display choice is critical to a good HMI and the availability of displays is usually one of the critical problems in HMI development. Because of this, just the development of the interface of a generic Embedded Single Board Computer, from the cable and connector (always different, often FPC impossible to handle), up to the video driver level, touchscreen cable and software drivers, becomes a major task.

Now what happens when the originally chosen display disappears from the market? Production stops until another development program is completed. Are you able to tolerate this? How quickly can you handle this alone?
